The Czech Museum of Fine Arts was originally known as the Mid-Bohemian Gallery and was established in 1963. It was situated in Nelahazeves Castle which is close to Prague, and was then relocated in the Old Town district of Prague in 1971 into a three sympathetically restored baroque building. In current times the museum holds temporary exhibitions of twentieth- century Czech art as well as work from up and coming foreign artists.

To create an extensive full day programme, the excursion to Terez?n can be taken with a visit to Lidice. On 9 June 1942 a Hitlerite commando occupied Lidice and executed all its male inhabitants. The women and children were carried off to concentration camps and the village was burned. This dreadful action was a part of the fascist reprisal following the execution of a senior figure.
